Camiño de Santiago Francés – Parte Uno
hello friends,

there’s a Korean saying: “beginning is half.” but for me, it was more like “beginning is everything — the rest is just caviar.”
i spent about a year getting ready to walk the Camino — or at least the first third (maybe half, if i was feeling bold). turns out, the prep itself was the journey I got fitter, more focused, more time to meditate, meet people, and somewhere along the , i even started to get hooked on hiking. not bad for a guy who just wanted to start regular exercise routine.
i’ll be on the camino for about 20 days.

come away on a journey with me. now, let me introduce my travel companions: frank, o’ath, and hip6. frank the pickleball — cousin of wilson the volleyball, O’ath the oakland a’s cap, and hip6… well, that one’s a longer story.
if you don’t know who Wilson is, go watch Tom Hank’s movie “cast away.”as for hip6, i’ll tell you about it another day.
my current plan (not a goal) is to walk somewhere between 50 miles (Pamplona) and 250 miles (Sahagún — the halfway point). realistically, it’ll probably be around 200 miles to Burgos.
